The water level continued to rise in Lai Nullah due to which the Water and Sanitation Authority (WASA) issued an alert. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has ordered to clear the drain amid downpour.
The emergency declaration allows for swift action to be taken to mitigate the effects of the monsoon spell, including evacuations, rescue operations, and provision of aid to affected areas.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department had earlier issued a warning of a strong monsoon system, predicting heavy rains and thunderstorms in various parts of the country.
