PARIS: (Web Desk) – Billionaire Elon Musk has been invited for a voluntary interview in Paris on Monday as part of an ongoing French investigation into his social media platform X. The probe, launched in January 2025, initially focused on allegations that X’s algorithm was used to influence French political discourse.
Later, the investigation expanded to include serious concerns over the spread of Holocaust denial content and sexually explicit deepfakes allegedly generated by X’s AI chatbot Grok. French authorities had earlier conducted searches at X’s Paris offices in February, which the company strongly criticized, calling the action politically motivated and abusive.

Alongside Musk, former X CEO Linda Yaccarino was also summoned for voluntary questioning as part of the case. Although she stepped down in July last year, authorities consider both as key figures in the platform’s leadership during the period under investigation.
French prosecutors have stated that employees of X were also called in as witnesses between April 20 and 24. However, officials clarified that attendance is not mandatory and the investigation will continue regardless of participation.
The probe includes allegations such as complicity in hosting illegal content, including child sexual abuse material and denial of crimes against humanity. X has consistently denied all accusations, labeling the case as politically driven.
The investigation is part of wider international scrutiny of AI tools, especially after reports that Grok was used to generate millions of sexualized images, raising concerns in Europe and the UK over data protection and online safety laws.
