Egypt Dominates with 3 Golds, Pakistan Wins 10 Medals at Asian Taekwondo Championships

ISLAMABAD – The Combaxx 7th Asian Taekwondo Open Championships saw fierce competition across various weight categories, with Egypt dominating the day by securing three gold medals. Meanwhile, Pakistan’s taekwondo athletes delivered impressive performances, earning a total of 10 medals, including 1 silver and 9 bronze.

As of February 18, 2025, the medal tally stands as follows:

  • Pakistan: 1 Silver, 9 Bronze
  • Egypt: 3 Gold
  • Iran: 1 Gold, 1 Bronze
  • Saudi Arabia: 1 Gold, 1 Silver
  • Afghanistan: 1 Silver, 1 Bronze
  • Uzbekistan: 1 Bronze
  • Jordan: 1 Bronze
  • Portugal: 1 Silver
  • Kenya: 1 Gold
  • Germany: 1 Silver

In the Men’s -54kg category, Pakistan’s Shahzaib Khan earned silver, while Muhammad Ghulam secured bronze. The gold medal went to Egypt’s Abdo Refaat Mohamed. In the Men’s -68kg category, Iran’s Dehghani Mohammad Sadegh claimed gold, with Pakistan’s Anjum Hussain adding a bronze to the country’s medal tally.

In the Women’s categories, Pakistan’s Momina Khan and Saima Mazhar earned bronze in the Women’s -46kg event, while Rahman Noor captured silver in the -57kg category. Pakistani athletes also claimed multiple bronze medals in the -57kg and -73kg categories.

Pakistan Taekwondo Federation (PTF) CEO Omar Saeed and President Col (R) Raja Waseem Ahmed congratulated the athletes for their excellent performances and reaffirmed the federation’s commitment to supporting the development of Pakistani taekwondo talent.
