Educational Institutions in Sindh to Remain Closed on March 11 for Youm-e-Ali

After the break concludes, schools and colleges will reopen on March 30

Karachi: (Web Desk) – All educational institutions across the province of Sindh will remain closed on Wednesday, March 11, on account of Youm-e-Ali, marking the martyrdom of Hazrat Ali.

According to an official notification issued by the provincial government, the holiday will apply to all public and private schools and colleges throughout the province. The decision was taken in line with recommendations made by Sindh’s sub-committee of the steering committee on education.

Youm-e-Ali is observed every year on the 21st of Ramadan to commemorate the martyrdom of Hazrat Ali (RA). On this occasion, large religious gatherings and processions are held in different parts of the country.

In a separate development, authorities in Islamabad have announced spring break for educational institutions operating under the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE).

According to the notification, all institutions under the FDE in Islamabad’s urban and rural areas will observe spring break from March 24 to March 27.

The notification stated:

“Spring Break shall be observed in all educational institutions working under the ambit of the Federal Directorate of Education w.e.f. 24-03-2026 to 27-03-2026.”

Sindh Announces 2026-27 Academic Calendar and Holidays

After the break concludes, schools and colleges will reopen on March 30 (Monday). Attendance of all teaching staff on that day will be mandatory to ensure the compilation and announcement of in-house annual examination results.
