Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar ul Haq Addresses 8th Convocation of Mirpur University of Science and Technology

Mirpur-(Bilal Mukhtar)_Mirpur, Azad Jammu and Kashmir – Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar ul Haq addressed the 8th convocation of Mirpur University of Science and Technology (MUST), reaffirming his government’s commitment to the region’s freedom and educational development.

Haq strongly condemned the elections held in occupied Jammu and Kashmir under Indian military presence, calling them a sham aimed at concealing India’s human rights abuses and brutality. He emphasized the 77-year-long struggle for a free and impartial referendum under UN supervision, ensuring the people’s right to self-determination.

“Education creates awareness in individuals, making them understand the value of freedom,” Haq said. “Mirpur University is a beacon of hope for our youth, and we will continue to support its growth.”

The Prime Minister outlined his government’s efforts to:

1. Eliminate corruption and promote transparency in job recruitments through a system similar to the National Testing Service (NTS).
2. Enhance the quality of education, focusing on mental and intellectual training.
3. Provide funds and necessary facilities to all educational institutions, including MUST.

Haq acknowledged the university’s valuable services and appealed to the Pakistani government to increase funding for Azad Kashmir’s universities, considering the region’s unique needs and geographical location.

“We have made significant progress in higher education, healthcare, employment, and infrastructure,” Haq said. “But our struggle for freedom continues. We will not rest until the people of occupied Kashmir are free from Indian oppression.”

The Prime Minister honored the sacrifices of Kashmiris, highlighting the region’s resilience in the face of adversity. He emphasized Azad Kashmir’s development, contrasting it with the oppression faced by Kashmiris under Indian rule.

“MUST University has become a symbol of our state’s progress,” Haq said. “We will provide all necessary resources to ensure its continued growth.”

Vice Chancellor Brigadier (retd) Prof. Younis Javed presented a letter of thanks to the Prime Minister. Ministers of Azad Kashmir, including Colonel Retired Waqar Ahmad Noor, Chaudhry Arshad Hussain, and Chaudhry Qasim Majeed, attended the convocation.

Haq’s address was followed by the distribution of degrees to graduating students. The ceremony concluded with a resolve to promote education, freedom, and development in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

The dispute over Jammu and Kashmir has been a longstanding issue between India and Pakistan. The region has witnessed numerous human rights abuses, enforced disappearances, and extrajudicial killings.

Azad Jammu and Kashmir has made significant progress in education, healthcare, and infrastructure development. However, the region continues to face challenges, including limited resources and geographical constraints.

Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar ul Haq’s address at MUST’s 8th convocation reaffirmed his government’s commitment to freedom, education, and development. As Azad Jammu and Kashmir continues to grow, its people remain steadfast in their resolve for self-determination and freedom from Indian oppression.
