Education and Youth Development Key to Balochistan’s Progress: CM Bugti
Quetta-(Ghulam Yaseen)-Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has emphasized the need to address the province’s pressing challenges, including environmental change, law and order, and governance. Speaking at an event organized by the Oxford Alumni Community of Pakistan, Bugti acknowledged that climate change poses significant threats to Balochistan, resulting in substantial losses due to abnormal rains and floods annually.
Bugti noted that providing education, health, and basic facilities to the population spread over a wide area is a significant challenge. He attributed the disappointing results in these sectors to bad governance, which prevents the effective allocation of resources. Despite billions of rupees being allocated annually, the fruits of these resources do not reach the common people.
The Chief Minister recognized that Balochistan faces numerous challenges, including climate change, law and order issues, and governance problems. To address these, he announced plans to reform various departments, making them more active and effective.
In the healthcare sector, Bugti proposed reorganizing the system to provide quality facilities and granting financial and administrative autonomy to major public hospitals. This would enable them to become ideal institutions for medical service delivery.
Bugti also stressed the importance of educating and developing Balochistan’s youth, protecting them from misguidance and providing quality education opportunities. He noted that every poor and rich Balochistan resident deserves access to international-standard education.
The Chief Minister acknowledged that a gap has been created between the state and the youth due to misleading propaganda. He expressed his determination to bridge this gap and provide opportunities for the youth to thrive.
Bugti reiterated that all problems will be solved gradually by improving governance in Balochistan. He emphasized the need to view Balochistan’s issues from multiple perspectives, rather than relying on one-sided perceptions.
The event, titled National Dialogue on Pakistan Permacrises, provided a platform for Bugti to engage with participants and share his views on various topics, including governance, law and order, and environmental change.
By tackling these challenges, Bugti aims to improve the lives of Balochistan’s citizens and promote sustainable development. His administration’s efforts will focus on addressing environmental concerns, enhancing education, and improving governance to ensure a brighter future for the province.
