ECP allocates reserved seats in Punjab Assembly
PML-N secures 36 seats for women PPP is set to receive 20 seats for women,
Lahore_The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued notifications regarding the allocation of specific seats in both the Punjab and Sindh Assemblies, delineating reserved seats for women and minorities.
In the Punjab Assembly, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has secured 36 reserved seats for women, while the PPP has been granted 3 such seats.
Additionally, the PML-N and the IPP have been allotted 2 and 1 seats respectively. The PML-N also clinched 5 minority seats in the assembly.
Overall, the Punjab Assembly boasts a total of 74 reserved seats, including 66 for women and 8 for minorities.
The Commission has released the list of 42 out of 66 reserved seats for women, while notifications for the remaining 24 seats are pending. Similarly, notifications for 5 minority members have been issued, while 3 are awaiting release.
Assembly session summoned tomorrow as PTI plans boycott,
Punjab Governor Balighur Rehman has summoned a session of the provincial assembly at 10am tomorrow (Friday) at the provincial assembly’s chambers.
A statement issued by the Governor House said on Thursday that the governor had signed upon the summary of summoning the Punjab Assembly.
Newly elected members would take oath and a new speaker of the House would be elected. Assembly Speaker Sardar Sibtain Khan would preside over the session.
PML-N leader Hina Parvez Butt also confirmed that the assembly would convene tomorrow, stating that it would be the third time she would take oath as a member of the provincial assembly.

Sources said that many leaders of the PTI have suggested that the chief minister election would get controversial because of the non-participation of the elected candidates. They were of the view that no one would accept the House if a large number of candidates would not take part in the session.
More than 110 candidates of the PTI have joined the Sunni Ittehad Council under the party’s coalition to secure reserved seats in Parliament.
