DRAP Launches Online System for Medical Device Registration on PM’s Directive

“This revolutionary step will reduce a process that once took years to just twenty days,” said a ministry spokesperson.

ISLAMABAD: In a landmark move, the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) has launched the digitization of medical device registration and licensing, under the instructions of Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal.

According to the Ministry of Health, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will officially inaugurate the initiative on Monday.

The new system allows citizens to apply online for the registration and licensing of medical devices — ranging from wheelchairs to MRI machines — from the comfort of their homes.

“This revolutionary step will reduce a process that once took years to just twenty days,” said a ministry spokesperson.

The online system aims to ensure faster access to high-quality, safe, and effective medical devices across Pakistan.

Officials highlighted the significant economic potential of Pakistan’s pharmaceutical and medical device sectors.
