Dr Yusra Saqib innocent in allegations of blood sipping of patient

RAWALPINDI- A high level inquiry has given clean chit to a female lady doctor who was facing charges of sipping blood of patient from canola in Holy Family Hospital, informed sources on Friday.

The lady doctor, who declared innocent by the inquiry committee, has been identified as Dr Yusra Saqib, who was serving as House Officer in Surgical Unit-1 of Holy Family Hospital.

The inquiry committee was formed by Medical Superintendent (MS) Holy Family Hospital Dr Shazia Zeb.

According to sources, an inquiry has been launched against a female house officer by the management of Holy Family Hospital after an attendant of a patient accused her of sippin blood of a patient through canola in Surgical Unit-1.

The committee summoned both the complainant and the lady doctor for recording their statements, they said. However, the complainant did not appear before the inquiry committee.

In its report, the inquiry committee declared Dr Yusra Saqib as innocent, sources said.

Talking to media, MS HFH Dr Shazia Zaib said that the management of the hospital had not got any clue of involvement of HO/Dr Yusra in drinking blood of patients.

Dr Tanvir, AMS Admin/Spokesman to MS, told this correspondent that a high-level inquiry has been launched against HO Dr Yusra Saqib after a complaint lodged by a female attendant of a patient admitted in SU-I. “The complainant was verbal and the complainant had not faced the inquiry committee despite summoning,” he said, adding that the accused doctor was in her 4th quarter of the House Officer job that was going to end on September 12. He said she was sent home by the management after allegations of drinking blood from a patient’s canola. On a query, the spokesman also denied recovery of CP vile from possession of Dr Yusra Saqib. VC Rawalpindi Medical University and chief of Allied Hospitals Prof Dr Muhammad Umar also denied the allegation against the lady doctor and said inquiry committee found her innocent.
