Dr. Syed Toqeer Shah to be Appointed as PM’s Adviser on Cabinet Division
Dr. Shah has also served as the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister.
ISLAMABAD: According to sources, Dr. Syed Toqeer Shah is set to be appointed as the Prime Minister’s Adviser on the Cabinet Division, with the position holding the same rank as a federal minister.
Dr. Shah is considered one of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s trusted allies. He currently serves as the Executive Director at the World Bank, a position he has held for several years. However, with two years remaining in his tenure at the World Bank, Dr. Shah will resign from his role at the Prime Minister’s request.
At the World Bank, Dr. Shah has led the portfolio for countries including Pakistan, Afghanistan, Algeria, Ghana, Iran, and Tanzania.
Previously, Dr. Shah has also served as the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister. Following his new appointment, the position of Principal Secretary will be abolished, and a Special Secretary will be assigned to the Prime Minister’s Office.

Dr. Shah will provide support to the Prime Minister in enhancing the performance of the bureaucracy and ensuring the successful completion of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s key projects.
