ISLAMABAD – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar received a telephone call on Sunday from United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to discuss matters of mutual interest and global cooperation.
The conversation comes as Pakistan assumes the Presidency of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for the month of July. During the call, DPM Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to international peace and security, emphasizing the importance of the peaceful settlement of disputes.
He also briefed the UN Secretary-General on a series of high-level Signature Events that Pakistan is organizing during its UNSC Presidency, aimed at advancing the Council’s core objectives and strengthening multilateralism.
Both leaders expressed eagerness to engage further in New York next week during events related to Pakistan’s active role in the Security Council.
Senator Dar also reiterated Pakistan’s consistent support for the United Nations and its personnel, underscoring the country’s commitment to facilitating the effective discharge of the UN’s global mandates.
