DPM Ishaq Dar and Egyptian FM Discuss Regional, Global Issues in Jeddah

The two Foreign Ministers also discussed regional and global issues of mutual concern.

JEDDAH: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar met with Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Expatriates, Badr Abdelatty, on the sidelines of the extraordinary meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Jeddah.

During the meeting, both leaders expressed their appreciation for the strong cooperation between Pakistan and Egypt at bilateral and multilateral levels. They praised the longstanding and multifaceted relationship between the two nations, which is rooted in shared beliefs, values, and cultural ties. They agreed to enhance political, defense, cultural, and economic relations, as well as foster greater people-to-people interactions.

The two Foreign Ministers also discussed regional and global issues of mutual concern. They expressed deep alarm over the ongoing violence by Israel in the West Bank and the ongoing genocide in Gaza.

DPM Ishaq Dar acknowledged Egypt’s crucial role in providing humanitarian aid to Palestinians in Gaza and its efforts to mediate a temporary ceasefire. Both officials reiterated their firm opposition to the forced displacement of Palestinians and emphasized that a lasting resolution to the issue could only be achieved through the establishment of a viable Palestinian state based on the pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.

In conclusion, the Deputy Prime Minister invited Dr. Badr Abdelatty to visit Pakistan on mutually convenient dates.
