DPM Dar & Saudi envoy reaffirm commitment to further strengthen bilateral ties

ISLAMABAD: Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan, Nawaf bin Saeed Al-Malkiy, on Monday called on the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar and discussed matters of mutual interest.

During the meeting, they discussed the full gamut of bilateral ties and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen already existing fraternal relations across all sectors, a press release issued by the Foreign Office Spokesperson said.

The Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir visited both India and Pakistan on May 8 and 9 to de-escalate tensions between the two countries and a ceasefire was announced on Saturday.

On May 8, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio telephoned Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar. Marco Rubio urged both leaders to exercise restraint and open the doors for bilateral talks between both nations.

Pakistan has expressed concern over a tragic shooting incident that took place in Pahalgam, a well-known tourist spot in Indian occupied Kashmir, resulting in the deaths of 26 tourists and injuries to 10 others, including two foreign nationals.
