DG PSQCA Vows Zero Tolerance for Substandard Products in High-Level Review Meeting

KARACHI — In a strong commitment to consumer safety and quality assurance, Dr. Sayeda Zia Batool, Director General of the Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA), chaired a comprehensive review meeting at the PSQCA headquarters in Karachi today. The meeting focused on evaluating the performance of all directorates and departments within the Authority.

Attended by Secretary PSQCA Mr. A.K. Rind and relevant directors, the session included detailed briefings on the ongoing operations, technical advancements, and strategic initiatives undertaken by various wings of the Authority. Dr. Batool engaged directly with PSQCA teams, appreciating their dedication and contributions in promoting a culture of quality nationwide.

In her address, Dr. Batool reaffirmed PSQCA’s critical role in the country’s economic development and consumer protection.

“PSQCA is not just a regulatory body; it is a vital engine for economic prosperity and for improving the standard of life in Pakistan,” she stated. “Our work in setting sustainable standards boosts trade, enhances industrial competitiveness, and builds international trust in ‘Made in Pakistan’ products.”

She directed the management to strengthen market surveillance and enforcement operations, while also accelerating the development of new standards aligned with international benchmarks. Dr. Batool further urged for enhanced engagement with industry stakeholders to promote compliance with mandatory quality regulations.

The meeting concluded with a strong resolve to provide all necessary resources for boosting PSQCA’s testing, inspection, and certification infrastructure — reinforcing the Authority’s mission as the national guardian of quality and standards.
