Deadly Blast Near Police Van in Quetta Kills 3, Injures 21

QUETTA – A devastating blast near a police van on Quetta’s Double Road on Wednesday killed three people and injured 21 others, including police officers. Four of the injured are reported to be in critical condition.

The explosion, which damaged a police vehicle, was caused by explosives planted on a motorcycle. According to police reports, the bomb was detonated as the motorcycle approached the police van. The injured were quickly rushed to the Civil Hospital for medical treatment.

Both President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the attack, expressing deep sorrow over the tragic loss of life. The President described the attackers as enemies of the country’s development and prosperity, particularly targeting Balochistan’s progress. He also extended condolences to the families of the victims and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.

Prime Minister Sharif, while condemning the attack, vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice and directed authorities to ensure the best medical treatment for the wounded. He described the assailants as anti-state elements who were working against the peace and development of Balochistan. Sharif assured that such cowardly attacks would not deter the nation’s resolve to achieve peace and stability in the region.
