Explosion and Gunfire Reported as Interior Minister Confirms Terrorist Assault
Ankara-(Special Correspondent/Webdesk): On Wednesday, Turkey reported a deadly attack at the headquarters of Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAS) located near Ankara. Media outlets indicated that a loud explosion occurred at the site, accompanied by footage showing an exchange of gunfire.
Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced on social media platform X, “A terrorist attack was carried out against the TUSAS facilities in Kahramankazan, Ankara. Unfortunately, we have martyrs and injured individuals.”
The exact cause of the explosion and the subsequent gunfire remains unclear, with some reports suggesting it may have been a suicide attack. Emergency services were promptly dispatched to the scene, according to state-owned Anadolu Agency.
Television footage revealed a damaged gate and a nearby confrontation in a parking lot.
TUSAS is a key player in Turkey’s defense and aviation sector, known for producing projects like KAAN, the country’s first national combat aircraft.
