Deadlock Persists Over PAC Chairman Appointment Amid Government-Sunni Ittehad Council Dispute

Islamabad: The impasse over the appointment of the Chairman of the Parliamentary Public Accounts Committee (PAC) continues between the government and the Sunni Ittehad Council.

Sources indicate that the Sunni Ittehad Council has not submitted a panel of four names for the PAC Chairman position as demanded by the government. In response, the government has decided to give the Sunni Ittehad Council another opportunity to provide four names.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) insists on appointing Sheikh Waqas Akram as PAC Chairman. Meanwhile, Government Chief Whip Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry has written to Sunni Ittehad Council Chief Whip Malik Aamir Dogar requesting a list of four candidates. The government remains firm on allocating the PAC Chairman position to the Sunni Ittehad Council.
