ISLAMABAD: The World Junior Individual Squash Championships kicked off with exciting action in Egypt, featuring some intense battles on the very first day.
Pakistan’s Abdullah Nawaz secured a convincing victory, defeating Macau’s Keng In Leong 3-0 (11-7, 11-0, 11-4) to advance to the next round. His dominant performance has brought pride to the nation and raised hopes for a strong tournament showing.
However, other Pakistani contenders faced tough challenges. Anas Ali Shah [17/32] fought hard but was edged out 3-1 by Hong Kong’s Justin Cheng (11-6, 12-10, 8-11, 11-9). Muhammad Umair Arif [17/32] also put up a spirited fight but lost 3-0 to USA’s Hart Robertson (14-12, 11-6, 11-9). Meanwhile, Yahya Khan was defeated 3-1 by another American player, Muhammad Haq (11-4, 11-9, 14-16, 11-6).
