NCCIA Expands Powers to Fight Cybercrime and Online Threats
Pakistan – (Special Correspondent / Web Desk) – The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has received new powers to tackle major online crimes. These include cyber terrorism, online fraud, child pornography, identity theft, and online grooming. The goal is to make the internet safer for everyone.
Sharing false or misleading information on social media will now be treated as a punishable offense under the Anti-Money Laundering Act (AMLA). Any income made through fake news or disinformation campaigns on digital platforms will also be tracked and investigated.

The NCCIA will investigate cases involving illegal SIM card issuance, child exploitation, abduction, human smuggling, and trafficking, especially when technology or information systems are misused.
According to Interior Ministry officials, these changes aim to strengthen laws against cybercrime and ensure quick, effective action to protect users.
