Azakhel: Pakistan Customs has inaugurated a new Customs Laboratory at the Azakhel Dry Port to facilitate trade and improve efficiency in customs operations.
The newly established facility is equipped with essential instruments capable of testing fabrics, plastics and related products, edibles, and dyes. Previously, traders had to send their samples to laboratories in Karachi, Lahore, and Faisalabad, which caused significant delays and increased costs.
With the opening of the Azakhel laboratory, approximately 80% of samples will now be tested locally, reducing clearance times and operational expenses. The initiative has been widely welcomed by importers, who described it as a major relief for the business community, as it will help cut dwell time and improve trade facilitation.
