Curfew Imposed in 24 Areas of Bajaur’s Mamond Tehsil Amid Anti-Terror Operation
Prior to the curfew, local authorities had issued evacuation orders for residents of the affected areas
Bajaur – August 17: The district administration of Bajaur has imposed a strict curfew in 24 areas of Mamond tehsil as part of a targeted security operation against militants. The curfew, approved by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Home Department, came into effect at 5:00 PM on August 16 and will remain enforced until 5:00 PM on August 21, 2025.
According to The News on Sunday, all public movement and outdoor activities are banned during this period, with authorities urging residents to stay indoors and fully cooperate with the security forces conducting the operation.
Areas Under Curfew
The areas placed under Section 144 include:
Malangi, Suparai, Dwaogai, Meena Sulemankhel, Khwar Chai, Chamyar Jor, Zagai, Gat, Agra, Ghandai, Zari, Nakhtar, Mula Killay, Bakaro, Gowati, Chamyalon, Larkalan, Barkalan, Ghanam Shah, Chotra, Damma Dola, Sultan Baig, Inam Khworo, and Naga.
Officials said the curfew and temporary displacement of residents are critical to ensuring the safety of civilians and providing unhindered access for security forces targeting militant hideouts.
Evacuation of Residents Ordered
Prior to the curfew, local authorities had issued evacuation orders for residents of the affected areas, advising them to temporarily relocate to safer locations. In an official communique, the district administration stated that the step was essential to minimize civilian casualties and collateral damage during the operation.
“The displacement of people to safer places is aimed at ensuring their safety during the operation. We urge full cooperation from the public to enable a safe and timely evacuation and to support efforts in clearing the region of miscreants,” the statement added.
Security Concerns in Bajaur
Bajaur, one of the seven former tribal agencies bordering Afghanistan, has seen a resurgence in militant activity in recent months. Security forces have ramped up intelligence-based operations in response to increasing threats, particularly in areas close to the border.

Authorities emphasized that restoring peace and stability in the region remains a top priority and assured residents that all necessary steps are being taken to ensure their safety and to facilitate their return once the operation concludes.
