Cuba Rejects Talks With US Beyond Immigration
Cuban President Denies Broader Talks With US After Trump Warning
Havana: (Web Desk) – Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel has ruled out any form of dialogue with the United States, except for limited technical contacts related to immigration.
According to foreign news agencies, Díaz-Canel said there are no talks underway with Washington on any issue other than migration. His remarks came in response to recent statements by US President Donald Trump, who warned Cuba to strike a deal or face consequences.
Iran ‘wants to negotiate’ & meeting being set up: Trump
Posting on social media platform X, the Cuban president reiterated that discussions with the US government are confined solely to migration-related matters. His reaction followed Trump’s claim that negotiations between the United States and Cuba were ongoing after the arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.
Trump had earlier alleged that Cuba survived for years on oil and financial support from Venezuela, and in return provided security services to what he described as Venezuelan dictators. He further claimed that Venezuela is now under the protection of the world’s most powerful military, the United States.
Issuing a warning, Trump said that no more money or oil would be sent to Cuba and urged Havana to reach an agreement immediately before it was too late.
