LAHORE: Chief Traffic Police Officer (CTO) Lahore Athar Waheed has stopped the traffic police from issuing challans for rickshaws, motorcycles and loader rickshaws until Eid.

The aim of this decision is to provide temporary relief to the citizens due to inflation and rising prices of petroleum products so that people can fulfill their daily needs during the Eid days without additional financial pressure.

According to traffic police officials, if the prices of petrol increase further, the force including the CTO will use only motorcycles instead of vehicles, traffic police vehicles will not be started and parked on the road so that unnecessary wastage of petrol can be prevented.

According to the authorities, the aim of this measure is to save petrol and ensure better use of government resources. This decision will not only reduce expenses but also help the traffic police to face difficult situations together with the public.

Traffic police officials say that in the third phase of the increase in the prices of petroleum products, patrolling will be done on bicycles. Citizens should also avoid using unnecessary vehicles and motorcycles and use alternative means if possible to save petrol.
