CTD Identifies BLA as Key Player in Karachi Airport Suicide Bombing
KARACHI – Significant updates have emerged regarding the suicide bombing incident near Karachi Airport, with the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) labeling the attack as part of a conspiracy aimed at damaging Pakistan-China relations.
The CTD submitted its preliminary findings to the anti-terrorism court, revealing that the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) was involved in the bombing.
According to the report, the attackers carried out the explosion with the help of a foreign intelligence agency opposed to Pakistan.
An unidentified assailant drove a vehicle close to a convoy transporting Chinese nationals before detonating the bomb.
The report specifies that the blast occurred near the CAA guard room adjacent to the outer terminal of Jinnah International Airport.
Police arrived shortly after the explosion and found several injured individuals, including police and Rangers personnel.
The attack resulted in three fatalities, including Chinese nationals Li Jun and Sun Huazhen.
The report also noted that over a dozen people, including Waqar, Ilyas, Naeem, Rano Khan, Azeem, Tariq, Ali, Hamza, and Sabeeh, were injured in the incident. The BLA has claimed responsibility for the suicide bombing.
The CTD report stated that the explosion completely destroyed 15 vehicles.
A case has been filed at the Airport police station, charging multiple offenses, including murder, attempted murder, assault, use of explosive substances, and terrorism.
