CTD eliminates six terrorists, averts major catastrophe in Mianwali

CTD foils major attack in Mianwali, kills six terrorists, recovers explosives, and launches hunt for the remaining suspects.

Mianwali  – (Web Desk) – Mianwali was spared from a potential major disaster after Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) personnel engaged in a fierce gunfight, eliminating six terrorists.

According to a CTD spokesperson on Friday, eight more terrorists managed to escape under the cover of darkness. The spokesperson added that authorities had received reliable intelligence about a planned attack targeting the police and other government institutions in the city.

When the CTD team raided the location, the terrorists opened fire on the CTD personnel.

During heavy exchange of fire, six terrorists were killed in the firing of their accomplices, while eight others managed to escape.

The spokesman said that CTD recovered one suicide jacket, three hand-grenades, an SMG 6, bullets, and explosive material from the hideout of the terrorists.

The spokesman further revealed that the CTD had launched an operation to hunt down the remaining terrorists. The CTD team cordoned off the entire area of Chapari.

The process to identify the dead terrorists was under way.

Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz commended bravery of the CTD personnel.

In a statement, she expressed the government’s commitment to eradicate terrorism from the country.
