Crackdown on Water Waste: Rs20,000 Fine for Washing Cars, Floors with Pipes

Rawalpindi-In a bid to curb water wastage, the Rawalpindi administration has introduced strict penalties for residents found using pipes to wash houses, floors, or cars. The fines, ranging from Rs10,000 to Rs20,000, will be imposed based on the type of water connection.

This move aims to promote water conservation and reduce waste. Similar measures have been taken in other cities, such as Lahore, where the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) has implemented fines for water wastage, including a challan of Rs20,000 for commercial water waste.

According to the newly issued notification, domestic connections will be fined Rs10,000 for the first offense, while commercial connections will be fined Rs20,000. Repeat violations will result in disconnection of the water supply.

The decision aims to address the growing water crisis in the region by promoting responsible water usage among citizens. Authorities have urged residents to cooperate with the new regulations to avoid penalties and contribute to water conservation efforts.
