Court cancels Rajab Butt interim bail in Karachi

KARACHI: (Web Desk) – A court in Karachi has revoked the interim pre-arrest bail of YouTuber Rajab Butt after he failed to appear during a hearing in a case related to alleged religious offence.

The proceedings were held at an Additional Sessions Court, where the judge cancelled the bail due to the accused’s absence.

Defence counsel informed the court that Rajab Butt was unable to attend because of health issues, stating that his condition prevented him from appearing in person.

However, the complainant’s lawyer opposed the request, arguing that the accused had repeatedly avoided court hearings by citing various reasons and urged the court to proceed without granting further relief.

The case, registered at the Hyderi Market Police Station, involves allegations of disrespect toward religious sentiments.

After hearing arguments from both sides, the court decided to cancel the interim bail.
