Contradictions Arise in Election Commission’s Position on Reserved Seats Case

ISLAMABAD: During a Supreme Court hearing, a significant contradiction surfaced regarding the Election Commission’s stance on reserved seats.

Justice Ayesha Malik questioned the rationale behind allocating specific seats to the BAP party in KP during previous elections, highlighting that the decision appeared to lack legal basis and had not undergone proper scrutiny. Responding to queries, the Election Commission’s lawyer indicated that the decision had been taken after considering all relevant parties, prompting Justice Malik to critique the Commission’s inconsistency.
