Consumers’ uninterrupted power supply stands as priority: Awais Leghari

Federal Energy Minister Awais Leghari said consumers’ uninterrupted power supply stands as the government’s foremost priority, as he inaugurated the 118 service.

He said every error in the system would come to light and responsibility for each mistake would rest with the officials concerned. He termed the new service as a much-needed step and said it would expose shortcomings without exception.

Leghari said progress came through cooperation among the prime minister, the field marshal and successive governments. He said influence remains powerful and both he and his officials receive recommendations, yet accountability under the new system remains unavoidable.

He said the prime minister’s aim is the end of the culture of recommendations across all departments. He said SDOs and XENs are required so that issues reach resolution.

Leghari reiterated that the prime minister’s vision calls for the complete end of the recommendation culture in every department.
