Dr. Bhalla was a true Renaissance man, effortlessly balancing a distinguished academic career with his life as a comedy icon. As a PhD and head of his department at Punjab Agricultural University, he was a respected scholar. To the world, however, he was the funnyman behind unforgettable characters like Advocate Dhillon from the Carry On Jatta series, whose dialogues became part of everyday language.
His journey in comedy began with the groundbreaking Chhankata audio series, which made him a household name. He later transitioned to films, delivering hits like Jatt & Juliet, Mela, and Band Baaja. His humour was unique—rooted in everyday Punjabi life yet always carrying a layer of warm, intelligent social observation.
