Cabinet Hails Victory in Operation Bunyad-e-Marsous

ISLAMABAD – In a significant development, the federal cabinet under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has approved the promotion of General Syed Asim Munir (Nishan-e-Imtiaz Military) to the rank of Field Marshal. The decision comes in recognition of his exemplary leadership in the successful execution of Operation Bunyad-e-Marsous, which the cabinet hailed as a historic victory against aggression.

The cabinet also decided to extend the service tenure of Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu upon completion of his current term, acknowledging his valuable contributions to national defense.

During the high-level meeting, the federal cabinet congratulated the entire nation on the remarkable success of Operation Bunyad-e-Marsous. It recognized the Pakistan Armed Forces’ swift and resolute response to India’s unprovoked attack on the night of May 6–7, which targeted innocent civilians and challenged Pakistan’s sovereignty. The armed forces’ leadership turned the tide with a powerful and historic counteroffensive.

The cabinet also approved the awarding of top national honors to the officers, soldiers, martyrs, and civilians who played a role in the operation.

In his remarks following the announcement, Field Marshal Asim Munir expressed deep gratitude to Almighty Allah and dedicated the rare honor to the people of Pakistan, the armed forces, and especially to the martyrs and veterans from both civil and military backgrounds.
