COAS Gen Asim Munir Orders Swift Action for Flood Relief in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Army Deploys Rescue Dog Unit, Urban Search Team in Flood Relief Effort

ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Nishan-e-Imtiaz (Military), Hilal-e-Jurat, has issued special directives for the immediate rehabilitation of flood-affected populations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to security sources.

The Army Chief emphasized that troops deployed in the region will fully support and assist in relief and rehabilitation operations. In line with his directives, additional army contingents have been dispatched to the flood-hit areas to strengthen the ongoing efforts.

In a significant humanitarian gesture, the Pakistan Army has donated one day’s salary of its personnel toward flood relief. Moreover, the army has also allocated over 600 tons of its daily rations to support affected communities.

COAS Munir has also directed the Corps of Engineers to expedite repair work on damaged infrastructure, especially bridges, and to establish temporary crossings where necessary to restore connectivity.

As part of the comprehensive relief operation, the Army’s 9th Rescue Sniffing Dog Unit has been deployed for search and rescue missions, while a specialized Urban Search and Rescue Team has also been mobilized under the direct orders of the Army Chief.

Army aviation units and helicopters have already been positioned to assist with relief operations, including aerial surveys, evacuations, and supply drops in inaccessible areas.

Security sources affirm that the Pakistan Army stands shoulder to shoulder with the resilient people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in this time of crisis, reaffirming its commitment to serve and protect the nation in all circumstances.
