CM Punjab Summer Games: Inter-District Competitions in Full Swing Across Province

The CM Punjab Summer Games will continue across the province until June 5.

LAHORE – The Inter-District competitions of the Chief Minister Punjab Summer Games, organized by the Punjab Sports Department, are currently underway with great enthusiasm at various venues including Nishtar Park Sports Complex and Punjab Stadium.

In thrilling kabaddi matches held at Punjab Stadium, Kasur edged out Lahore with a close 35-30 win, while Nankana Sahib defeated Sheikhupura 25-15. Parliamentary Secretary for Sports, Ins Mehmood, attended the kabaddi matches as chief guest and appreciated the performance of the players. District Sports Officer Lahore, Tanveer Abbas Shah, and other officials were also present on the occasion.

The inter-district volleyball (boys) matches were held at the Gymnasium Hall of Nishtar Park Sports Complex. Sheikhupura outplayed Lahore 2-0 with set scores of 25-14 and 25-21. In another match, Lahore defeated Nankana Sahib 2-0 (25-22, 25-24), while Nankana Sahib bounced back with a strong 2-0 win against Sheikhupura (25-11, 25-07).

In the inter-district girls’ hockey matches held at the National Hockey Stadium, Lahore crushed Nankana Sahib with an 11-0 victory. Sharqa scored 5 goals for Lahore, while Laiba Yasmeen netted 2. Shiza, Urooj, Amna, and Ayeza scored one goal each. Director Admin of Sports Department Punjab, Dr. Muhammad Kaleem, attended the event as chief guest. He was introduced to the players and group photos were taken. Director Sports Rana Nadeem Anjum and Deputy Director Chand Parveen were also present.

In the boys’ hockey match, Lahore beat Nankana Sahib by a convincing 13-2 margin, with Akash scoring 5 goals.

Director General Sports Punjab Khizra Afzal Chaudhry, in her statement regarding the CM Punjab Summer Games, said that the competitions are ongoing in all districts of Punjab and are helping discover new sporting talent. She added that substantial efforts are being made for the development of sports in the province. “These games are expanding Punjab’s talent pool, and the province will participate in the National Games with strong teams,” she affirmed.

The CM Punjab Summer Games will continue across the province until June 5.
