CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz becomes latest target of deepfake video

Maryam recently went to a uniformed police passing out ceremony; pictures from the event were widely circulated on social media.

LAHORE: A video of Maryam Nawaz, the first female Chief Minister of Punjab, dancing with two girls in a police uniform has gone viral on social media.

It has been established, nevertheless, that the video is a deepfake—a kind of artificial intelligence capable of producing lifelike but phony videos.

Two days ago, Maryam Nawaz, dressed in a police uniform, was seen dancing to music with two girls in a video that went viral on TikTok. Many people think the video is authentic because it has been circulated extensively on social media.

Maryam recently went to a uniformed police passing out ceremony; pictures from the event were widely circulated on social media.

However, a closer look clearly shows that the video is a deepfake. It is clear that Maryam Nawaz has been edited into the video.

The video was created by a TikTok user named Nabeel Khattak, who shared it on his account “@Nabeelptitiger2”. The video has since been shared by other users with different music.
