CM Parvez Elahi pledges support for Imran Khan

 Elahi asks depts to curtail expenses

LAHORE  – Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhary Parvez Elahi on Tuesday reaffirmed his support for Pakistan Tahreek-i- Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and said those who tried to spread misunderstandings between his party and Mr Khan would fail.

The chief minister, along with his son Moonis Elahi, a former federal minister, met PTI leader Zartaj Gul. They discussed the political situation and development projects for Dera Ghazi Khan.
Mr Elahi assured Zartaj Gul of his support for Imran Khan and mentioned that their alliance “is robust than before”.

Meanwhile, the chief minister stated that the people of Dera Ghazi Khan deserved better facilities. Ms Gull appreciated the policies of Parvez Elahi and said he “is honest and keen to solve the problems of Dera Ghazi Khan’s people.”

CM, took important decisions regarding the adoption of austerity by giving strict directions to the government departments to cut expenses.

CM Elahi directed the government institutions not to buy new cars for protocol and also reduce the non-development expenditure by 50 per cent.

He demanded the complete record of government land and directed the relevant authorities to send the details to the CM office within seven days. He also gave order for increasing the provincial resources. “Institutions should introduce new measures for increasing revenues,” he said.

Punjab Finance Minister Mohsin Leghari, former federal minister Moonis Elahi, MNA Hussain Elahi, Chief Secretary Abdullah Sumbal and Principal Secretary to CM Muhammad Khan Bhatti participated in the meeting.

CM directs departments to cut down expenditure,

CM directed the public offices including the CM office to slash expenditure in a bid to promote austerity.

The chief minister reviewed the development projects under way in the province and fiscal matters while chairing a meeting . Punjab Finance Minister Mohsin Laghari, ex-federal minister Moonis Elahi, MNA Hussain Elahi, Chief Secretary Abdullah Sumbal and Principal Secretary Muhammad Khan Bhatti attended the meeting.

In addition to barring the government departments from buying new vehicles, Mr Elahi directed them to slash the non-development expenditure by 50pc. He also sought the government land record within seven days beside resolving to formulate a policy to auction the property. He directed the revenue departments to introduce unique ways to boost revenue collection and meet the revenue targets in stipulated time.
