CM KP Ali Amin Gandapur Resigns, Returns Imran Khan’s Mandate

Gandapur also thanked his cabinet colleagues, members of the assembly, and administrative officers for their support.

PESHAWAR: Ali Amin Gandapur has resigned from his position as Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He has submitted his resignation to the Governor of the province.

In a statement posted on social media, Gandapur said that the position of Chief Minister was a trust given to him by Imran Khan, the founder of PTI. Following Khan’s orders, he is returning this trust by resigning from his post.

He added that he is resigning under Article 130 of the Constitution, acting on the directives of his leader and party founder.

Reflecting on his tenure, Ali Amin Gandapur stated that when he took office, the province was facing financial crises and terrorism. During his term, he said, financial stability and peace were restored, and efforts were made to rebuild the war-affected province.

Earlier, PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja confirmed to the media that Ali Amin Gandapur was being removed from the Chief Minister’s position in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He stated that the party founder had ordered Gandapur to resign, suggesting it would be better for him to step down as the party prepares to announce a new policy and make a fresh start.

Salman Akram Raja assured there would be no difficulties in the transition and said Gandapur would resign, with the assembly set to elect Sohail Afridi as the new Chief Minister.
