Gulbar Khan Hails Success of First-Ever National Security Workshop

Gilgit-(Musab Khaliq)-Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan Haji Gulbar Khan expressed his happiness and pride in hosting the first-ever National Security Workshop in Gilgit-Baltistan, made possible through the collaboration of the provincial government and FCNA. This four-day workshop aimed to educate the youth on national security issues and broaden their understanding of security, going beyond border protection to encompass environmental, human, and economic security.
Gulbar Khan highlighted the significance of such workshops in fostering dialogue, accessing truth, and countering negative propaganda. He praised Commander FCN and his team for their efforts and emphasized the government’s support for similar initiatives.
The Chief Minister addressed various regional issues, stating that the problem of land reforms has been solved in a short period, resolving land mafia issues and people’s suffering. He also resolved the people’s concerns regarding the supply of co-subsidized wheat by contacting the federal government.
To overcome the power crisis, 9 megawatts of additional power has been added to the system, and efforts are underway to complete the 16MW Naltar Power Project. Disciplinary action will be initiated in case of delay in implementing the timeline given by the concerned company.
Gulbar Khan noted that challenges faced in terms of law and order have been resolved, and there is currently an ideal law and order atmosphere in Gilgit-Baltistan, thanks to the commendable role of scholars and institutions.
The holding of local elections is among the priorities of the government. The phase of delimitation of constituencies is starting, after which the date of local body elections will be announced.
To address the student fee issue of Karakoram International University, a grant of 10 crores was given despite limited resources in the past, and this year also, a grant of 10 crores has been kept in the budget.
The decision to activate four new districts has been taken in the cabinet meeting, and these districts will be activated soon. The National Security Workshop will be useful and helpful for Gilgit-Baltistan’s youth.
The provincial government will encourage and fully support such positive workshops. During the workshop, the Chief Minister answered participants’ questions, addressing education quality improvement, teacher shortages, good governance, transparency, and youth policies.
He emphasized providing interest-free loans to youth for starting businesses, expanding the program to remote areas this year. Gulbar Khan recommended to the Prime Minister and Federal Government to include mega projects of Gilgit-Baltistan in the CPEC.
The federal government has been requested to contribute to Gilgit-Baltistan through NFC, with positive progress expected. The future of Gilgit-Baltistan is bright, with more natural resources than other provinces. Last year’s budget of 18 billion deficit has been improved upon, presenting a people-friendly budget this year.
Gilgit-Baltistan’s development and non-development budget has seen substantial growth. The Chief Minister remains committed to development and progress, ensuring a brighter future for the region.
