GILGIT (News Desk) – Caretaker Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan, Justice (Retd.) Yaar Muhammad, has stressed the need to promote information technology to ensure a brighter future and improve the governance system in the region.
While speaking during a departmental briefing given by the Information Technology Department, he said that e-governance can bring efficiency and transparency across all government departments. He termed the implementation of the E-Office system in government offices of Gilgit-Baltistan as a positive and commendable step, noting that it would help ensure timely and effective handling of official matters and assist in resolving public issues promptly.
Justice (Retd.) Yaar Muhammad stated that development is not possible without information technology. He emphasized the need to further promote tech villages and IT centers to attract youth toward the IT sector and enable them to benefit from modern technology.
He said that Gilgit-Baltistan has the potential to become an IT hub, for which a coordinated policy framework and adequate resource allocation are essential. Highlighting the growing interest of local youth in the IT sector, he noted that many young people are contributing to economic growth through freelancing and digital marketing.

The caretaker chief minister added that promoting the IT sector is crucial for securing a better future for the youth, enabling them to strengthen the region’s economy and become productive members of society. He reaffirmed that the promotion of the IT sector should be a top priority and assured that the caretaker government would take all possible measures to support IT development and resolve issues faced by the department.
