CM Afridi blames central government’s policy for rising terror attacks.

Chief Minister Afridi blames federal policy for rising terrorism and vows to end political arrests in the province.

KP  – (Special Correspondent / Web Desk) – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s new Chief Minister, Sohail Afridi, has pointed a finger at the federal government. He claims their incorrect strategies are the main reason terrorism is returning to the province.

His political party, the PTI, has led the region since 2013. They do not support large military operations, as these often force local families from their homes. While the central government says no big offensive is planned, smaller anti-terror actions continue. People in the Kurram district are already leaving, fearing a possible military operation.

In his first major meeting as chief minister, Afridi made several key announcements. He stated that the province is not receiving the money and rights promised to it by the constitution. “The federal government must recognize our sacrifices and send our funds on time,” he said. He argued that with proper funding, the local police could be strengthened to fight terrorism effectively.

He also criticized the federal interior minister, calling the bulletproof vehicles sent to the KP police faulty and old. He described it as an insult and demanded the vehicles be taken back.

Beyond security, CM Afridi made strong promises about justice and human rights. He vowed that no one in KP would be arrested for political reasons under a specific public order law. He also promised that police would not register criminal cases based on political revenge. “Freedom of speech is everyone’s basic right,” he was quoted as saying. He specifically warned that no cases should be filed against students.

The Chief Minister also talked about the recent elections. He thanked officials who he said protected the people’s vote but promised strict action against those who he claims gave in to pressure. He declared a zero-tolerance policy against corruption in his government. He warned that any official found underperforming or making the public unhappy would be removed from their post.

Finally, CM Afridi announced new development projects. These include a medical college and a modern sciences university for tribal districts. He also promised new playgrounds and a Safe City project to boost security. A new university named after the late journalist Arshad Sharif is also planned.
