CJ Qazi Faez Isa Honored at Farewell Dinner in Islamabad

Reflections on Judiciary, Tributes to Colleagues, and Humor on Late Arrival Shared by Chief Justice

Islamabad-(Mudassar Iqbal): A farewell dinner was recently held in Islamabad in honor of Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, where he reflected on the judiciary, expressed gratitude for his colleagues, and shared a humorous anecdote about his late arrival.

Chief Justice Isa expressed appreciation, saying, “I thank the Pakistan Bar Council and the Supreme Court.” He especially commended Justice Yahya Afridi, remarking, “We could not fully understand Justice Yahya Afridi; he is on a higher level than us.” He recounted a talk show discussion where speculative comments were made about judges’ potential rulings: “They were saying if the Chief Justice decides one way, then another judge will decide another way. All judges were present in the full court, yet there was speculation about them.”

Speaking further on Justice Afridi, Chief Justice Isa noted, “They said it’s uncertain what decision Justice Yahya Afridi will make, but it will surely align with the constitution and law. People seemed to understand us, but no one could quite grasp Justice Yahya Afridi.”

In a lighthearted explanation for his delayed arrival, Justice Isa shared, “There were two reasons. Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan told me, ‘First, you’ll have your cup, then you’ll come.’ I also stopped for a haircut, but there was a guy having a facial that seemed like it would never end.”
