City Traffic Police Murree Issues Comprehensive Traffic Plan for Eid-ul-Fitr Holidays

Additional Traffic Personnel Deployed in Murree for Eid Holidays

Rawalpindi: In preparation for the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays, the City Traffic Police Murree has unveiled a comprehensive and integrated traffic plan to ensure smooth traffic flow and the convenience of tourists. Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Murree, Mughees Ahmed Hashmi, highlighted the importance of Murree as a major tourist destination, attracting visitors from across the country during the Eid festivities.

Following the directives of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, IG Punjab, and Additional IG Traffic Punjab, additional personnel have been deployed in Murree to manage the anticipated surge in tourist traffic. More than 200 traffic wardens will be stationed throughout the city to guide visitors. Tourists will receive assistance via barriers, banners, and pamphlets at all key entry points to Murree.

The CTO emphasized that all traffic from Rawalpindi and Islamabad will flow into Murree via the Expressway and RMK GT Road. Additionally, five key roads within Murree (Viewforth Road, Bank Road, Hall Road, Kuldana Road, Ridge Bell Road) will operate as one-way routes during the holiday period. Mall Road will remain closed to all traffic. To improve traffic flow, Murree has been divided into five sectors.

A complete ban will be enforced on parking in front of Habib Bank GPO Chowk and its vicinity, with GPO Chowk being declared a “no-parking” zone. To tackle the major issue of parking in Circle Murree, visitors are advised to park only in designated areas.

As part of the plan, water tankers and food supply vehicles (trucks and heavy vehicles) will be allowed to enter Murree between 01:00 AM and 07:00 AM. In order to ensure smooth traffic and provide immediate assistance to tourists, a control room has been set up at Sunni Bank, with contact number 0519269200 for guidance.

CTO Murree Mughees Ahmed Hashmi urged tourists to check the social media page @ctpmurree for weather updates and traffic advisories before setting off for Murree. He also recommended that visitors ensure their vehicles are in good condition for the journey.
