China’s Economic Growth to Benefit Global South, Says Pakistan Ambassador

Hashmi Highlights Strong China-Pakistan Partnership and CPEC Progress

BEIJING: Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Khalil Hashmi, emphasized that China’s economic growth would bring significant benefits to the Global South. In a recent interview with Xinhuanet, Hashmi shared his views on the major discussions during China’s “two sessions,” noting that China’s prosperity directly contributes to the advancement of developing nations.

He highlighted that China’s GDP grew by 5% year-on-year in 2024, aligning with its annual targets and contributing around 30% to global economic growth. The ambassador pointed out that this growth has opened up new opportunities for developing countries, especially through China’s commitment to sharing its development benefits globally.

Hashmi also stressed the importance of China’s initiatives such as the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and the Global Development Initiative, which aim to build a shared future for mankind and provide opportunities for international collaboration.

He further underlined China’s ongoing efforts to attract foreign investment and promote mutually beneficial trade by adhering to a high-standard opening-up policy. Technology, particularly in green and digital sectors, was also identified by Hashmi as a critical factor in shaping future global economic policies.
