China Warns of Fallout as US Moves Closer to TikTok Ban

Following approval from the Senate and the signature of the US President, the bill will become formal legislation.

Washington: China has issued a warning that the decision to ban TikTok will have implications for the United States.

Spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Wang Wenbin, accused the US government of pressuring TikTok without any evidence of national security threats.

Wang further commented that unfair confrontations cannot lead to fair outcomes and such actions could impact business activities and undermine international investor confidence.

The US House of Representatives has approved a bill proposing a potential ban on the social media app TikTok. The bill instructs the Chinese company ByteDance to divest its interests within six months and warns of a forthcoming ban on TikTok if it fails to comply. The bill was passed with a significant majority.

Following approval from the Senate and the signature of the US President, the bill will become formal legislation.
