China Calls for Thorough Investigation and Accountability Following Karachi Convoy Attack
At approximately 11 p.m. on October 6th, a convoy transporting Chinese staff members from the Port Qasim Electric Power Company (Private) Limited was attacked near Jinnah International Airport in Karachi. The incident resulted in the deaths of two Chinese nationals, injury to one Chinese individual, and several local casualties, the Chinese Embassy in Karachi stated in a release.
The Chinese Embassy and Consulates General in Pakistan strongly condemned the terrorist attack, extending heartfelt condolences to the victims from both countries and expressing sympathies to the injured and their families. Efforts are underway to manage the aftermath in coordination with Pakistani authorities.
In response, the Chinese Embassy and Consulates General in Pakistan immediately activated an emergency protocol, urging the Pakistani government to conduct a thorough investigation, bring the attackers to justice, and implement all necessary measures to ensure the safety of Chinese citizens, institutions, and projects in Pakistan.
The Chinese Embassy and Consulates General also issued a reminder to Chinese citizens, businesses, and projects in Pakistan to remain vigilant, closely monitor the security situation, enhance protective measures, and prioritize safety precautions.
