Chilean Antarctic rattled by powerful 7.5 magnitude earthquake

A major 7.5 quake struck the remote region, prompting safety alerts, but no tsunami threat was issued.

Myanmar – India – (Special Correspondent / Web Desk) – A very powerful earthquake shook a remote area near Antarctica. It was so strong that experts measured it at a 7.5 magnitude.

No tsunami expected after large Antarctic earthquake

Even though it was a big quake, experts say it did not create a threat of a tsunami, which are giant, dangerous waves.

Because it is better to be safe, officials told people there to stay away from beaches just in case.

They also said this quake does not put any people in Chile’s southern towns in danger. It happened deep under the water in a place called the Drake Passage.

In a different part of the world, another smaller earthquake also shook the area between Myanmar and India.
