LAHORE: Under the Chief Minister’s Children Heart Surgery Program, a total of 3,162 successful heart surgeries have been performed. Following the directives of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, a team of foreign pediatric heart surgeons will visit monthly to provide their expertise.
The program has registered 7,436 child patients from across the country. In addition, 316 children from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will receive free surgeries and treatment in hospitals in Punjab.
A total of 51 children from Sindh, 11 from Balochistan, and 158 from Azad Kashmir have been registered for heart surgery under the program. Furthermore, 30 children from Gilgit-Baltistan will also undergo heart surgery.
So far, 2,419 surgeries have been conducted in government hospitals, while 743 surgeries have taken place in private hospitals. The government of Punjab is covering all the expenses for the heart surgeries and treatment.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz expressed her commitment, stating that she cannot bear to see young children suffer. She emphasized that the government will cover all costs for heart surgeries, noting that children have the first right to government resources. She also assured that treatment for children with congenital heart diseases will be provided as quickly and freely as possible, treating every child as if they were her own.
