Chief Minister Punjab Takes Action to Reduce Transport Fares amid Petrol Price Drop

 

LAHORE: Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, convened an emergency meeting despite the holiday to address the issue of transport fares not reflecting a recent petrol price decrease of 35 rupees per liter.

Expressing dissatisfaction over the delay in adjusting transport fares despite a significant reduction in petrol prices, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif directed the Ministry of Transport and Police to launch an operation for an immediate reduction in fares. She emphasized the urgency of the situation and instructed the Inspection Commission to swiftly intervene.

In addition to transport fare adjustments, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif instructed authorities to ensure that prices of essential items such as bread and rent are maintained at official rates, warning against negligence.

Ahead of Eid-ul-Adha, the Chief Minister emphasized cleanliness in cattle markets, ensuring provision of shade for protection from the sun, and distributing 3.2 million special bags to the public. She also directed the provision of necessary facilities including medical services and water at cattle markets.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif took strict notice of recent traffic congestion at Thokar Niaz Baig and directed measures to prevent such incidents in the future. She underscored the importance of maintaining peace and order throughout the province, pledging personal oversight even during holidays.
