Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan Advocates for Enhanced Representation & Development Initiatives

PM Shahbaz Sharif accepted the invitation from CM Gulbar Khan to visit Gilgit-Baltistan.

Islamabad: The Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan, Haji Gulbar Khan, held a significant and lengthy meeting with the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, at the Prime Minister’s House.

During the meeting, CM Gulbar Khan extended formal congratulations to Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif on his re-election as the Leader of the House and expressed gratitude for the establishment of Danish Schools in all three divisions of Gilgit-Baltistan.

In the meeting, crucial issues pertaining to Gilgit-Baltistan were extensively discussed. CM Gulbar Khan emphasized the demand for representation of Gilgit-Baltistan in all central institutions. He urged for political reforms to ensure representation from Gilgit-Baltistan in all chambers of the government.

Gulbar Khan also made several requests to Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, including the allocation of profits from the Diamer Bhasha Dam’s net hydel profit to Gilgit-Baltistan, inclusion of Gilgit-Baltistan in the Federal Finance Commission, and the formal announcement of four new districts – Daril Tangir, Yasin Gupis, Rondu, and Trango.

Furthermore, CM GB Gulbar Khan highlighted the need for approval of development projects for Gilgit-Baltistan in the Federal PSDP. He stressed the importance of federal government cooperation in enhancing tourism opportunities in Gilgit-Baltistan and addressing issues related to the Gilgit-Skardu road, including electricity projects in Harpo and Attabad.

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif accepted the invitation from CM Gulbar Khan to visit Gilgit-Baltistan and assured him of the federal government’s full cooperation in addressing all the demands raised. He pledged to convene a review session of the committee until all issues are resolved and to undertake a thorough assessment of all points.

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif also instructed to prepare and present a comprehensive action plan for the development of tourism and solar energy projects in Gilgit-Baltistan. He expressed his special affection for Gilgit-Baltistan and reiterated the federal government’s commitment to serving the people wholeheartedly, ready to cooperate at every step.
