The Punjab government has embarked on a reorganization of District Peace Committees to enhance inter-regional coordination throughout the province.
The Chief Minister of Punjab has approved the overhaul of these committees, which were originally established in 2018. The Punjab Home Department has directed all deputy commissioners to issue notifications for the new peace committees within the next two weeks.
This reconstitution will ensure that all regions are represented, promoting a diverse and inclusive membership. Given that many previous office bearers have either passed away or are no longer fit to serve, the District Intelligence Committees will be consulted before finalizing the nominations for the new members.
This initiative is aimed at bolstering the effectiveness of the peace committees in fostering harmony and coordination across Punjab.
