Champions Trophy Final: New Zealand Sets 252-Run Target for India
The sixth wicket fell at a total score of 211, when Daryl Mitchell was dismissed for 63 runs.
Dubai: In the ICC Champions Trophy final, New Zealand has set a target of 252 runs for India to win.
The final match between India and New Zealand is being played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. New Zealand won the toss and opted to bat first.
Batting first, New Zealand scored 251 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their allotted overs, setting a target of 252 runs for India to chase.
New Zealand’s first wicket fell at a total score of 57 when opener Will Young was dismissed for 15 runs by Yaron Chakravarty. The second wicket fell at a score of 69, with Rachin Ravindra getting out for 37 runs off a delivery by Kuldeep Yadav.
The incoming batsman, Kane Williamson, couldn’t stay long at the crease either, as he was dismissed for just 11 runs at a total of 75. This wicket was also claimed by Kuldeep Yadav.
New Zealand’s fourth wicket fell at a total of 108, with Tom Latham being out for 14 runs, LBW to Ravindra Jadeja. The fifth wicket fell at a total of 165 runs, with Glenn Phillips getting bowled out for 34 runs by Yaron Chakravarty.
The sixth wicket fell at a total score of 211, when Daryl Mitchell was dismissed for 63 runs. At 239, New Zealand lost their seventh wicket.
At the toss, New Zealand’s captain Mitchell Santner mentioned that bowler Matt Henry was unavailable for the final due to injury. He also noted that the pitch looked good and was similar to the one in the previous match against India.

Indian captain Rohit Sharma acknowledged New Zealand’s strong team but stated that batting second would not make a difference.
It is worth noting that 25 years ago, in the second edition of the ICC Champions Trophy held in Nairobi, New Zealand defeated India by 4 wickets, with a brilliant century from Chris Cairns.
